a treatise on projectiles
bullets, balls and other forms of shot

Welcome to a treatise on projectiles, a website that aims to help identify projectiles fired from small arms that have been recovered archaeologically in the UK. This includes round shot (from early smoothbores), bullets from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as some of the more unusual types of shot that turn up from time to time. It is by no means a comprehensive guide to small arms projectiles and here are a few things it does not cover: artillery projectiles, modern bullets, live ammunition. Everything seen on this website is inert.
